Olajoke Aladesanmi is a Legal Practitioner and human right activist prior to joining RLP, horned her skills with notable law firms and Human Right Organizations where she garnered experience in litigation, legal research and became familiar with the practice and procedures of the Superior Courts of Record in Nigeria, as well as major institutional and ad hoc alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Breif Profile
Olajoke has a flair for cases of Human Rights violations and has successfully challenged and defended several cases of right violation in court. She has equally participated at several local and international Human Rights conferences and workshops in Nigeria, United States, Kenya and Ivory Coast.
She presently works on the death penalty projects, and inmates rehabilitation under the auspices of Centre for Legal Support and Inmate Rehabilitation (CELSIR) and her roles entails rendering pro bono services to victims of human right violations, prison/ police station visit, legal representation of accused persons and death row inmates at both the trial and appellate courts, legal research and drafting.
Aladesanmi's passion for criminal practice earned her the position to head several projects on Criminal Justice. Her passion for Inmate rehabilitation advocacy stems from witnessing the challenges faced by Ex-inmates due to stigmatization by society. She believes that this contributes significantly to the high rate of recidivism which can be reduced through effective rehabilitation. She has partnered with the Correctional Centre to assist Inmates with educational and vocational training that prepares them for a positive and productive lifestyle post – incarceration and participated in several activities aimed at sensitizing the public on the need for the abolition of death penalty in Nigeria.
She is vast in Criminal Litigation and provides advocacy strategy, delivers pro bono legal services to survivors of human rights abuses for the Center for Legal Advocacy arm of the firm.
In 2018, she served as the Project Manager of the Nigerian Coalition for the International Criminal Court and the African Network for International Criminal Justice.
She is also a 2018 fellow of the Cornell Center on the Death Penalty Worldwide, Ithaca, New York
